TRUCK-MOUNTED CRANES NOW OPERATE WITHOUT THREAT
OF ELECTROCUTION
Truck-mounted trolley boom and
knuckle boom cranes facilitate the loading and unloading of bulk material from flatbed
trucks such as concrete blocks and gypsum board. However, there is always the danger the
cranes will touch overhead cables and electrocute the operator if that person has contact
with the crane through a faulty pendant control or by touching the vehicles frame.
The 10-K radio remote control system eliminates such hazards, as one manufacturer
of concrete masonry and architectural blocks has found. It uses the system on a 24-foot
boom which is mounted on a 38-foot tractor trailer. It also cuts maintenance costs and the
time to load and unload. The 10-K system overrides any RF interference and is both compact
and easy to operate.
Operators have plenty of range to operate 360 degrees around the truck and can
concentrate on load handling. They no longer have to find time to unroll the pendant or
pass it back and forth over the trailer in order to service both sides.
